Bringing Back the Tide: The Millicoma Confluence Restoration Project

For more than 75 years, a levee separated a historic wetland from the natural tidal waters of the Coos River. In 2025, a remarkable restoration effort brought those waters back, reconnecting more than 10 acres of vital habitat for juvenile coho salmon, birds, and other wildlife.
The Millicoma Confluence Restoration Project is a powerful example of what can happen when partners come together to restore the natural systems that support our watershed.
This short documentary, which premiered at the 2026 Oregon Coast Film Festival, captures the story behind the restoration, the people who made it possible, and the significance of returning the tide to a landscape that had been disconnected for generations.
